Gartenbau-Versicherung is reorganising the way it supports its members in Italy. All policyholders previously served through its partner Soluzioni Assicurative can now contact the Italian branch and the regional risk managers directly. This move strengthens Gartenbau-Versicherung’s position in the European market and marks a further consistent step in its internationalisation strategy.
With gross premiums of around EUR 19 million in 2025, Italy is Gartenbau-Versicherung’s largest market outside Germany and is of growing strategic importance. By providing direct support, the mutual insurer is strengthening its relationship with its members in Italy and laying the foundations for further growth in the Italian market.
Through direct member support, Gartenbau-Versicherung, which operates under the Hortisecur brand in Italy, is also further expanding its advisory services. In addition to personal support from regional risk managers, assistance with risk management and guidance in the event of a claim, advice on public funding and the associated administrative requirements is becoming increasingly important. This also underscores Hortisecur’s role as a specialist partner to the Italian horticultural sector, offering insurance cover, prevention and advice from a single source. Further expanding its business in Italy is an important element of Gartenbau-Versicherung’s efforts to broaden its European presence and strengthen the mutual insurance community over the long term.
“In view of the structural changes taking place in horticulture, our internationalisation strategy is becoming increasingly important. A strong presence in our international markets benefits each of our member businesses locally. Providing direct member support in Italy is therefore a logical step in our long-term strategy,” said Christian Senft, Chairman of the Executive Board of Gartenbau-Versicherung VVaG.
The reorganisation of member support is being carried out in close cooperation with Soluzioni Assicurative, Gartenbau-Versicherung’s long-standing distribution partner, which fully supports the move. “We would like to thank Soluzioni Assicurative for many years of cooperation. Together, we have built our market position in Italy. And together, we have now developed a solution that ensures a seamless transition for our members,” said Ilaria Borelli, Head of Hortisecur’s Verona branch.
