Q and A
Our members’ concerns are our concerns.
Tanja Dworschak-Fleischmann
Director
1. What are your responsibilities and tasks and how long have you been doing this job?
As the owner and director, my job involves a whole range of tasks: On the one hand, I am primarily responsible for the day-to-day organization. Fortunately, my team supports me with the classic tasks, such as bookkeeping, purchasing goods, etc. However, I still carry out some “hands-on” work in the business myself and make sure that our greenhouses are in good working order and that our herbs are doing well. Last but not least, I accompany and support some of our employees, some of whom are working with us as part of an integrative program.
2. What emotion(s) do you associate with your work?
I love fragrances – sweet, aromatic, invigorating or soothing – most of all I love variety. I can find all these scents among my herbs. It’s always a great feeling to stand in the middle of my herbs, breathing in their fragrance and watching them grow.
3. In your opinion, what makes your company special?
We produce in an environmentally friendly way in well-insulated greenhouses with an ideal climate, protected from harmful external influences. Sustainable production methods are particularly important to us. We therefore work in the most energy-efficient way possible with double-decker technology and our own combined heat and power plant, as well as conserving resources by using a closed irrigation system.
We give our herbs the time they need to develop the nutrients we need. In strict adherence to the guidelines of organic farming and controlled by our organic farming association and our inspection body, we produce our herbs in harmony with humankind and nature. For some years now, the nursery has been a well-known address for reintegration and rehabilitation facilities, vocational training centers, special schools and workshops for the disabled.
4. Who are your customers and where can your products be found?
We not only grow the ten most popular standard herbs, but also cultivate a very wide variety that enables us to supply not only the food retail trade, but also health food stores, garden centers and flower stores.
5. How have you experienced the support provided by Gartenbau-Versicherung so far?
We have been insured with Gartenbau-Versicherung since our company was founded. We have always felt very well looked after, they were always there for us when we needed them. In fact, Gartenbau-Versicherung approached us and told us that they could pay for the damage (glass breakage). We were always given sound advice and they were there when we ran into problems.
