Gartenbau-Versicherung once again awarded Assekurata A++ Rating

By 5. August 2026No Comments

Gartenbau-Versicherung VVaG has once again retained its A++ rating from the independent rating agency Assekurata. The overall assessment remains “Excellent”, reflecting the specialist insurer’s financial strength, close member relationships and continued growth.

The independent rating agency Assekurata has once again awarded Gartenbau-Versicherung VVaG an A++ rating for its overall company quality. This means the insurer continues to achieve the highest possible overall rating. Assekurata evaluates four key areas: Security, Success, Customer Orientation, and Growth & Market Attractiveness. Three of these areas received an “Excellent” rating, while one was rated “Good.”

Financial strength reaches a historic high

In the 2025 financial year, Gartenbau-Versicherung significantly strengthened its financial position. Thanks to a year with comparatively low claims, the company allocated EUR 40.1 million to its equalisation reserve. This represents a historic high and nearly doubles the funds held in this reserve. Shareholders’ equity increased to EUR 46.0 million.

As of 31 December 2025, the solvency ratio reached 283%, calculated without transitional measures or volatility adjustments. Assekurata therefore continues to assess the company’s financial security as Excellent.

“Over the past few years, we have consistently invested in our financial stability. This is now paying off. A solvency ratio of 283% gives us the flexibility to remain a reliable partner for our members, even in years with exceptionally high claims,” says Christian Senft, CEO of Gartenbau-Versicherung.

Customer loyalty well above the market average

Gartenbau-Versicherung achieved particularly strong results in the area of customer orientation. A key factor behind this high level of member loyalty is the company’s in-depth industry expertise and close relationship with horticultural businesses. Field representatives assess and settle claims directly on site, in some cases together with volunteer loss assessors from the horticultural sector.

In addition, Gartenbau-Versicherung has recently integrated weather data into its digital customer portal, enabling members to initiate selected processes independently.

Continued growth across Europe

Premium growth also remains strong. Gross written premiums increased by 7.3% in 2024. In the 2025 financial year, premium income grew by a further 3.56% to EUR 129.1 million.

Growth continues to be driven primarily by the company’s European markets, while the German home market remains largely stagnant due to the ongoing structural decline in the number of horticultural businesses. Assekurata therefore rates Growth & Market Attractiveness as Excellent and expects stable premium growth from the European markets in the years ahead.

“This rating confirms what we experience every day: our members place their trust in us because we truly understand their industry and take a long-term perspective. We are committed to continuing to earn that trust,” Christian Senft adds.
