Q and A
Our members’ concerns are our concerns.
Raphael Janßen
Owner & Director Janßen Group
1. What are your responsibilities and tasks and how long have you been doing this job?
My father and I are the directors of the Janßen Group businesses and we are supported by a wonderful team. So my job is very varied and involves working both in the office and on the “field” in the greenhouses or outdoors. I have been working in the company for about 10 years.
2. What emotion(s) do you associate with your work?
Flowers and plants are living organisms that make people happy. They immediately create a reaction, even if it’s just a tiny smile. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a difference in our daily lives.
3. In your opinion, what makes your company special?
The exceptional depth and quality of our product range thanks to state-of-the-art technology, as well as flat hierarchies and the opportunities we offer our employees to develop and grow are what make our company special.
4. Who are your customers and where can your products be found?
We supply plant wholesalers and they in turn supply home improvement stores, specialist garden centers and, in some cases, food retailers.
5. What challenges are you currently faced with in your daily work?
Finding new trainees and recruiting staff in general is currently quite a challenge for us.
6. Which risks do you consider to be particularly critical for your business operations?
In my opinion, the main dangers are poor quality and plant failure caused by weather events.
7. Have you ever had a damage event in your company and if so, what kind of damage was it?
We have experienced some hail damage.
8. How have you experienced the support provided by Gartenbau-Versicherung so far?
Friendly, open and competent. I am particularly pleased with the significant shift towards more digitalization in recent years.
9. Is there anything you would like to see Gartenbau-Versicherung do in the future?
Sound risk assessment, taking the business’s requirements into consideration and a good newsletter.
