In his welcome speech, CEO Christian Senft emphasises the enormous importance of claims experts for Gartenbau-Versicherung and its members.
On 11 and 12 November 2025, the conference of claims experts from Gartenbau-Versicherung took place at the Gartenbau educational centre in Grünberg. Around 20 new claims experts met with representatives of Gartenbau-Versicherung to discuss current challenges in claims settlement.
Combined expertise for the gardening community
CEO Christian Senft praised the importance of the assembled experts and was impressed by the diversity in the room: Different specialist areas and even competing companies are working together here for the benefit of the horticultural community. This willingness to contribute their own expertise is what makes Gartenbau-Versicherung unique. ‘You are the backbone of the insurance company, and close cooperation is a key element of successful claims settlement,’ Senft concluded his welcome speech.
Many years of experience meets the new generation
Ornamental plant gardener Andreas Kienast looks back on over 40 years of experience as a claims expert. He described his first assignment in 1981, involving a total loss due to hail, with mixed feelings: he was very uncertain at first, but felt honoured to be asked. He particularly emphasised the human side of the job – tact and empathy are just as important as technical knowledge. Martin Rupflin, who now works as a claims adjuster after many years in the field, confirmed: ‘Assessing means helping and learning.’
Practical workshops with impressive results
The participants tested their skills using specific case studies – from minor partial damage caused by hail or heavy rain to total loss of tomatoes following a failure of the irrigation system. The loss adjusters demonstrated their accuracy: even when assessing cases based solely on photographic evidence, their estimates were very similar.
Konstantin Lang, Head of Claims at Gartenbau-Versicherung, concluded by emphasising the importance of claims experts and describing close cooperation as a key success factor – both today and in the future.
