Sulzer Rosen at a glance.
To us, our members are more than just numbers and facts.
Sulzer Rosen is now run by the fourth generation. Roses are produced on 1.5 hectares under plastic film and glass, as well as on 5 hectares outdoors, for the wholesale markets in Munich and Karlsruhe. Depending on the weather, sales take place from May through October. The roses are then prepared for overwintering.

Management & Sales – Munich Wholesale
1. What are your functions and responsibilities, and how long have you been doing this job?
As is typical for family businesses, I have worked in our company since I was young. I took over the business ten years ago and have since been responsible for management and sales at the Munich wholesale market.
2. In your view, what makes your company special?
What makes our business special is the wide variety of roses—we offer over 100 different varieties.
3. And which is your favorite variety?
The one that’s sold 🙂
4. Who are your customers and where can your products be found?
We sell our potted roses and cut roses at the wholesale flower markets in Munich and Karlsruhe.
5. What challenges are you currently facing in your daily life?
In addition to rising fertilizer and energy prices, we are deeply concerned about groundwater contamination by per- and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFCs). The entire Rhine Plain is affected by this, and the businesses involved must find ways to deal with the situation.
6. Which risks do you consider particularly critical for your business operations?
Extreme weather conditions—particularly hail, storms, and drought—rank among the greatest hazards.
7. Has your company ever experienced a loss event, and if so, what did it entail?
We had hail damage about four years ago, as well as storm damage three years ago.
8. How have you perceived the support provided by Gartenbau-Versicherung so far?
Producing outdoor roses would not be possible without insurance. We have never had any issues with the horticultural insurance provider, and we find the service to be absolutely satisfactory.
9. What request do you have for Gartenbau-Versicherung?
To lower the contributions.
