What matters to our members matters to us, too.
Raphael Janßen
Owner & Managing Director, Janßen Group
1. What are your functions and responsibilities, and how long have you been doing this job?
Together with my father, I serve as a managing director for the companies of the Janßen Group, supported by a wonderful team. My job is therefore very varied, taking place both in the office and out on the “shop floor”—whether in the greenhouses or in the open fields. I have been with the company for about 10 years.
2. What emotion(s) do you associate with your work?
Flowers and plants are living products that evoke emotions in people. You get immediate feedback, even if it is just a faint smile. Sometimes, it is the little things that make a difference in everyday life.
3. In your view, what makes your company special?
Our company stands out thanks to its exceptional product depth and quality—driven by state-of-the-art technology—as well as flat hierarchies and opportunities for our employees to develop freely and grow professionally.
4. Who are your customers and where can your products be found?
We supply plant wholesalers, who in turn supply home improvement stores, specialist garden centers, and—in some cases—grocery retailers.
5. What challenges are you currently facing in your daily life?
Recruiting apprentices—and personnel recruitment in general—is currently a challenge for us.
6. Which risks do you consider particularly critical for your business operations?
In my opinion, poor quality and crop failures caused by the forces of nature pose significant risks.
7. Has your company ever experienced a loss event, and if so, what did it entail?
We were affected by hail damage.
8. How have you perceived the support provided by Gartenbau-Versicherung so far?
Friendly, open, and competent. I particularly like the significant shift towards digitalization in recent years.
9. What request do you have for Gartenbau-Versicherung?
A sound risk assessment, a proactive approach that considers the business’s needs, and a good newsletter.
